TEACHER PROFILE
FIBER FOR-'EM
Barb Wilde

|
I was introduced to knitting in third grade and I have been attracted to all forms of "fiber" ever since. Sewing garments, quilting, and trying other forms of needlework got me through high school and college with a mojor in Home Economics.
I have always been facinated by spinning. I "mail-ordered" a spinning wheel in the mid 80's and taught myself to spin. My husband's career change in the mid 90's took us to the Dallas area and I became involved with the local quilters. Upon retiring in 1999, I finally realized a dream of mine from 5th grade--we started B R Llama Ranch. Raising llamas, shearing, processing the fiber, and working with yarns have been an obsession.
When "natural yarns" weren't available locally, I was convinced we needed a yarn shop here in Boerne. Rosewood Yarns came into being in February 2006. With the shop, came opportunities for teachers to enlighten me with more new techniques in crochet, tatting and bobbin lace, with the last my favorite! I look forward to passing on this knowledge.
