FIBER FOR-'EM
MARLENE CALAME

|
Marlene Calame
Marlene has been involved in many needle and sewing arts from a very young age. Early on she concentrated on sewing, crewel, embroidery and crocheting. While she has always had a keen interest in all fiber and fabric related arts, she put it on the backburner to work and raise a family. After retiring as a Registered Nurse, she threw herself into the needle and fiber arts arena with gusto. Among her many dabbles in this area are crocheting, hand knitting, machine knitting, circular sock knitting, circular sock machine knitting, weaving, spinning, quilting, Kumihimo (Japanese braiding), working with Lucet, wet felting, needle felting, fabric and yarn dying. However, she does not see tatting in her future!
Marlene is a member of the North Texas Machine Knitters Guild, DFW Machine Knitters Guild, Dallas Spinners & Weavers Guild, and the Texas Twisters (spinning). She currently organizes sessions and demos various crafts at her local Senior Center.
Her family has decided that they need to keep an eye out for farmland so that Marlene can raise fiber animals for all of her various projects. This property must also contain a large barn to make sure there is enough room for all of her toys! Marlene is currently raising three fiber animals. It is a shame that they are short haired dogs and a cat ~ and none of this fiber is good for anything but clogging up vacuum cleaners! She and her extremely “patient with all of her toys” husband live in Allen, Texas.
