"My husband was raised in Louisiana but I was born and raised in New Mexico. After we married in 1962 he decided we needed to move to Louisiana, and we did.

One of the first things he did after we bought our farm in 1967 was to aquire a young ram lamb and 2 ewe lambs of the Gulf Coast Native breed. It did't take long for me to begin loving these pretty, tough sheep. We had a lamb born that was odd in color, a sort of Tunis red, and it started our quest for color. We began working toward a beautiful auburn fleece and over a number of years developed the flock from light creams to dark auburns in color.

In 1972, while in New Orleans at school for BellSouth, I saw and purchased a 4H LeClerc Jack loom. This, of course, led to spinning, and I was hooked forever on fiber. Next I was the owner of a wonderful Ashford Traditional wheel and with a friend I began to learn to spin- which was just the beginning of something I have come to love very much. It has become a hobby and craft that has happily occupied my life for 30 years."
